GATE/Enrichment Program

In California, the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program is designed to identify and support students who demonstrate exceptional abilities. Here are some key points about GATE for elementary students:

  1. Identification Criteria: Fontana school district does mass testing in 3rd grade, after that students can be referred individually again starting in 5th grade. This often involves standardized tests, teacher recommendations, and assessments of students' academic performance, creativity, and leadership skills
  2. Program Goals: The GATE program aims to provide differentiated learning experiences that challenge and develop the academic, social, emotional, and creative abilities of gifted students in the classroom. We also offer periodic activities for the student through the district and after school enrichment activities.
